About this kaaawa gift
Kaaawa is a small community on the windward side of Oahu, on the north shore of the island, where the Koolau mountains come down close to the sea. People who live there tend to feel rooted in it, and many were raised within a few miles of the same beaches and valleys. A shirt with Kaaawa on it is how someone shows they belong to that stretch of coast, whether they still live there or moved away for school or work. It suits the friend who surfs or paddles on the north shore, the family member who spent childhood summers there, or the relative who misses the slower pace and the view. Because the name is short and distinctive, it reads cleanly on a tee or a mug. Adding a year, a family name or a street gives it the personal touch that turns a place name into a gift that really lands.
