About this mattoon gift
Mattoon is a small city in east central Illinois, and the people who grew up there tend to stay attached to it even after they move on. A Mattoon shirt is how a former resident says they're from a real place, whether that's a hometown reunion, a visit back for the holidays, or a conversation with someone in a new city who has never heard of it. Small towns mean everyone knows someone, so a shirt on a Mattoon graduate or a longtime resident often gets a second look from people who recognize the name. For the one who moved away, an 11oz mug is a daily reminder of home. For a kid who's just starting to take pride in where they're from, a kids tee or a baby onesie with Mattoon on it is an easy way to pass the name down. You can add a second line for a street, a school class year or a family name to make it theirs.
