About this visiting professor gift
A visiting professor is a scholar who spends a term or a year teaching at a university that isn't their home institution, often juggling a lecture schedule, a borrowed office and a rental apartment. They know the feeling of arriving in a new city with boxes of books and no familiar coffee shop. A gift that acknowledges the temporary, traveling side of academic life lands well. A mug is perfect for the borrowed office, where they'll drink a lot of coffee and probably never see it again once they leave. A hoodie suits the cold lecture hall and the walk between buildings. Put their title on it, or the university where they're visiting, and the piece becomes a small memento of the stint. Many visiting positions end in a farewell lunch, so a shirt or mug with their name and title makes a thoughtful send-off for a colleague who's packing up.
