About this champaign gift
Champaign is a college town in central Illinois, and a lot of the people who call it home are connected to the University of Illinois in some way, as students, professors, staff or longtime neighbors who stayed after graduation. A Champaign shirt is how they show that they belong to a place that's smaller than people expect and more loyal than most. For someone who grew up there or spent their college years around campus, the city name on a shirt or mug carries a lot of memories. For the transplant who moved away after school, a Champaign mug on the desk is a small reminder of home. The strongest gifts add a detail only the person would recognize, like a street, a year they lived there, or a second line with their own name, so the design feels like theirs and not like a generic souvenir from a city they only visited once.
