About this grouse gift
A grouse is a plump, ground-dwelling game bird, and the people who care about them usually care a lot. Hunters, bird watchers and anyone who grew up near grouse country tend to know the calls, the dawn flushes and the places they've seen them. A gift that names the grouse fits that. A shirt or hoodie with the word on it works for a day in the field or a trip to the trailhead, and a mug suits the early start with coffee before the bird dogs come out. The best versions of this gift add a line that means something to the person, like a species name, a favorite spot or a year they got their first bird. Grouse is also a word many people won't recognize, so the shirt can start a conversation with the strangers who ask what it means, which tends to be the part the recipient enjoys most.
