About this 3rd mate gift
A third mate is the newest licensed officer on the bridge, and the job shows in the details. They stand the 8 to 12 watch, keep the charts corrected, run the safety gear checks, and learn how a ship really works from the people who've been doing it for decades. Shore time is short and precious, so the gifts that matter are the ones that feel like theirs: a hoodie for cold decks and long crew-change flights, a mug that stays put when the sea doesn't. Personalize it with their name, the vessel, or the year they earned the license, and a plain 3rd Mate shirt becomes something they'd actually wear at the pier. If you're buying for family at home, a design with their rank is a quiet way to say you're proud of the climb, and a onesie or kids tee lets the little ones match a parent who's away more than they'd like.
All 3rd mate gifts →- A tee with their ship's nameUse the second line for the vessel or the company fleet they sail with, so it reads like a crew shirt they chose themselves.
- A hoodie for the long way home3rd Mate on a hoodie suits the airport, the gangway and the cold bridge wing, and a license year underneath marks the milestone.
- A mug that earns its place in the messAn 11 oz mug with their name and rank gives them something that's clearly theirs, whether it rides in a seabag or sits on the kitchen counter between hitches.
- Matching sets for the family at homePair a 3rd Mate tee with a kids tee or baby onesie, so the kids can wear what their mate wears when they're away on contract.
