About this curator gift
A curator spends their days deciding what gets shown, how it's labeled and why it matters, and the work is slow, detailed and often done in quiet rooms with few thanks. They know the difference between a gallery, a museum and an archive, and they care about provenance, loan agreements and the exact wording on a wall label. A gift that respects that kind of attention tends to land well. A tee with curator printed on it is a fine start for a museum day or a gallery opening, and a dark tee works well for evening events. A hoodie suits the chilly storage room and the long install weeks, and a mug is the one that goes on the desk next to the catalogue proofs. You can add a line under the word, such as their institution, their specialty or the year they started, so the shirt reflects their path rather than a generic job title. It's the sort of thing they'll wear without thinking, which is exactly how a good curator would want a piece of work to be displayed.
