About this direct support staff gift
Direct support staff work one-on-one with people who have developmental disabilities, mental health needs or other support requirements, often in group homes, day programs or in the community. The job means long shifts, a lot of patience, careful documentation, and showing up for the same people day after day. Gifts that land for them tend to be practical and a little personal, things they can wear to a long shift or drink from during a rushed morning. Putting the job title on the gift shows you understand what they do, which matters to people who often go unthanked. You can add a second line for their name, their agency, or the year they started, so the shirt or mug is clearly theirs. If you're buying for a whole team, one shared design with each person's name on their own shirt is a simple way to say thanks to everyone at once. Many people in this field also appreciate something cozy for the drive home after a hard day.
