About this machinist mate gift
A machinist mate keeps the engines and the machinery that drive a ship running, which is hard, greasy work done in tight spaces below the waterline, often on long deployments where a broken part can't just be picked up at a store. The people in this rating tend to be practical and proud of the fixes nobody sees, so the gifts they keep are the ones that respect the job rather than the cliches. A soft tee for the off-duty hours, a hoodie for the cold mornings on the pier, or a mug for the coffee that keeps them going through a long watch. What makes it theirs is detail: add their rating title, their ship or unit, or the year they earned the rate, so the shirt says exactly what they do. If you're buying for a whole division or a retirement, one design with everyone's name in the Team Shop gives each person their own shirt, which tends to land better than a generic group gift.
