About this sanitation worker gift
Sanitation workers start before most people are awake and spend their shifts on routes, lifting bins, riding the back of a truck in every kind of weather. The gifts that land with them are the practical, comfortable ones: a soft tee for the drive in, a hoodie for the cold early mornings, a mug that's clearly theirs for the coffee before the first pickup. Plenty of crews rotate through the same trucks, so a name on the mug stops it from wandering off. Sanitation work is also a job people take pride in, because the neighborhoods they serve look the way they do partly because of them. Put their name on a shirt and the word sanitation worker tells coworkers and family what they do without any explanation. You can add a route number, a crew or a years-of-service line in the second spot, which turns a generic shirt into one that's clearly theirs.
