About this district of columbia gift
People from the District of Columbia tend to get asked the same question everywhere they go: do you actually live in DC, or do you just work for the government? A DC shirt answers that before they have to. Many of them grew up in neighborhoods like Anacostia, Columbia Heights or Georgetown, and they're proud of a city that has a vote in the House only as a delegate, and whose license plates say Taxation Without Representation. That history makes DC gear feel personal. A tee for the Metro commute, a hoodie for the cold walk to the bus, or a mug for a home office in Maryland or Virginia where a DC transplant still reaches for the city's name every morning. If the person you're buying for is a DC native who left, a shirt with the District on it is a quiet way of saying you still see them as one of the city's own. Add a neighborhood or the year they graduated from a DC school to make it theirs.
