About this first assistant gift
A first assistant is the person who runs the line when the head is off the field or out of the room, so they're usually the one holding everyone else's problems together. Think of the kitchen sous chef during a dinner rush, the assistant coach who knows every player's name and every set play, the assistant manager who opens and closes and fixes what breaks. They tend to be the first in and the last out, and most of their work goes unnoticed unless something goes wrong. A gift that acknowledges that lands well. Put their title on a shirt or mug so the role itself gets recognized, and add the place or team they work for on a second line if you know it. A mug works well for the early-morning routine they'll use every shift, and a hoodie suits the long cold stretches on the sideline or the walk-in cooler. The title itself is a good thing to celebrate, especially if they just earned it.
