About this newellton gift
Newellton is a small town in Tensas Parish, Louisiana, and people who grew up there tend to stay connected to it, whether they still live in town or have moved to Baton Rouge, Houston or Chicago. A shirt with the town name is how they claim it: for homecomings, family reunions, a visit back to see parents, or just wearing where they're from to a city where nobody has heard of it. Small towns make strong gifts because the shirt says something a generic souvenir can't. Add the year they left, the year they graduated or the family name underneath, and it becomes their story rather than a place name. For the grandparent who's lived there for decades, a Newellton mug on the porch is the quiet way to say you know where they belong.
