About this obstetrical nurse gift
Obstetrical nurses spend long shifts on their feet in labor and delivery, often through the night, and the gifts they hold onto are the ones that make the hours off the floor a little easier. A soft tee for the drive home, a hoodie for the chilly break room, a mug that's clearly theirs so it doesn't walk off the unit. What lands best is something that shows you know what the work is. Put OB or L&D on it, or their own words for the job, and it stops being a generic nurse shirt and becomes theirs. If you're shopping for a whole unit, one design with each nurse's name on their own shirt is a thoughtful gift for Nurses Week, which runs May 6 to 12 every year. Order a few weeks ahead, since it's a busy time for everyone.
