About this pahoa gift
Pahoa is a small town on the Big Island of Hawaii, in the Puna district, where people tend to know each other and the roads out to the coast are part of daily life. A Pahoa shirt is the kind of thing a local wears to the farmers market, and the kind of thing a former resident hangs onto after moving to the mainland. Since it's a small place, a gift that names the town rather than just a generic island design tells the person you paid attention to where they come from. Think about the one who left: a hoodie for the cold mainland winter, or a mug for the morning coffee that reminds them of home. For a kid who grew up there, a kids tee or onesie with the town name keeps the connection going from the start. If you know a street, a school or a year they lived there, put it on the second line so the design feels like theirs rather than a souvenir.
