About this city editor gift
A city editor runs the newsroom day to day, deciding what gets covered, who covers it, and when the story has to be on the page. They're usually the one still at the desk when the late breaking story lands, often with a phone in one hand and a red pen in the other. A gift that acknowledges that grind lands best when it's practical and a little funny. A tee for the long shift, a hoodie for the cold newsroom that never seems to get the thermostat right, a mug for the coffee that's been reheated three times. Put their name on it, or add the paper or desk they run, so it's clearly theirs. Journalists tend to keep the things that show they're in on the joke, so a line that sounds like a headline usually does better than a generic slogan.
