About this oak lawn gift
Oak Lawn is a village in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, and people who grew up there tend to carry it with them wherever they land. A shirt with the name on it is how a former resident waves the flag at a reunion, a high school homecoming or a family visit back. Many people from Oak Lawn also keep close ties to the surrounding south side and suburban communities, so a tee or hoodie with the village name often gets a conversation started. For someone who has moved away, a mug with Oak Lawn on it is a daily reminder of home, the kind of gift that works on a Tuesday morning as well as a holiday. For a newcomer just settling in, a hoodie is practical in a Chicago winter and signals they're now part of the place. Add a second line with a graduation year, a street or a family name and the shirt becomes specifically theirs.
