About this grosse ile gift
Grosse Ile is a small island community on the Detroit River, known for its quiet residential streets, waterfront views and a slower pace than the city across the water. People who grew up there, or who spent summers on the island, tend to hold on to it fiercely, and a shirt with the island's name is a way of saying so. A gift for someone from Grosse Ile lands best when it reflects that closeness to the river and the small-town feel. Add the year they moved or graduated from the local school, or a second line with their street or family name, and the design starts to belong only to them. A hoodie suits the cold months on the water, while a mug fits the kitchen of a former islander who now lives farther inland and misses home. Because this is a smaller place, a few detail words on the second line usually say more than any slogan.
