About this north gift
North is a direction, and it's also the name of a lot of places: North Carolina, North Dakota, North Beach, North Shore, and neighborhoods and towns everywhere else. Your recipient may be someone who lives in one of these places, someone who grew up there, or someone who simply always wants to point toward home. A shirt or hoodie with North on it works for the local who wears their town everywhere, and a mug works for the homesick transplant who needs a reminder every morning. Because North is so general, the second line matters a lot. Put the actual place they're from underneath, like a town, county or neighborhood, and the design stops being a compass joke and becomes theirs. For a gift that's easy to get right, go with a shirt or hoodie in a color they'd actually wear, and keep the wording simple.
