About this materials intern gift
A materials intern is usually a student or recent grad working in a lab or on a plant floor, learning how metals, polymers, ceramics or composites behave under stress and heat. Days are full of sample prep, test runs, data sheets and the occasional cleanup of a shared bench, and most of the learning happens through questions asked to people who are busy. A gift that acknowledges that is a nice fit. A tee or hoodie is something they can wear to the lab on a cold morning or to a campus event, and a mug suits the long stretches of reading and note-taking. If you want it to feel personal, add their name and the year or season they're interning, so it marks the internship and not just the job title. For a summer intern, a hoodie is a good choice since many labs keep their rooms cool. Whatever you pick, a name or dates on the design make it theirs.

- A hoodie for cold lab roomsMany test labs run cool, so a hoodie with materials intern on it doubles as a useful layer through the summer.
- A mug for the long note-taking daysAn 11 oz mug with their name keeps coffee hot through a morning of sample logs and data sheets.
- A kids or onesie gift for a family memberIf the intern is a relative's kid or a sibling starting out, the matching kids tee or baby onesie is a playful way to share the title.
