About this director department gift
A department director usually carries the most responsibility of anyone on their team: budgets, staffing decisions, deadlines that come from above and problems that come from below. The gifts that land tend to be the ones that acknowledge that weight without making a joke of it. A good shirt or mug with their title, and the department name on a second line, says you see the specific job they do, not just that they have a job. Add the team name or the year they took the role, and it becomes theirs. A hoodie works well for the ones who spend their days in meetings with the air conditioning turned up, and a mug is the easy pick for the office where coffee is the real currency. For a director leaving a department or retiring, a design with their title and the department name is a keepsake that will hang around longer than the farewell card.
