About this human factors engineer gift
Human factors engineers spend their working lives thinking about the gap between how people are supposed to use a thing and how they actually use it. They study cockpits, hospital infusion pumps, phone menus and the door handles everyone pushes when the sign says pull. Their work is often invisible when it goes right, so a gift that names the job tends to land well. A tee or hoodie with their title says you noticed what they do, and a mug on the desk gives them something to reach for during long afternoons of usability reports. Try a second line for their specialty or their credential, if they have one, such as CHFES. Add the year they finished their degree or the company they joined. If you're buying for a whole research team, the Team Shop lets you order one design with each person's name on their own shirt, which tends to get a laugh at the next offsite.
