About this laboratory director gift
A laboratory director usually runs more than the bench work. They sign off on results, manage staff and budgets, keep accreditation inspections from going sideways, and answer for the numbers that come out of the lab. Long days and a lot of responsibility are the norm, so the gifts that land are the ones that feel earned and personal. A hoodie for the cold early mornings before the first run of the day, a mug for the desk where the paperwork piles up, or a tee for the weekend when they finally step away from the bench. Adding their name, the lab or department they lead, or their credential, such as their credential, turns a generic job shirt into one that's clearly theirs. If you're shopping for a whole lab team, one design with each person's name on their own shirt is a nice way to recognize the people who keep the place running. Lab directors are often the first to get appreciation from the outside and the last to take a day off, so a gift that says you noticed the work is worth more than it might seem.
