About this science director gift
A science director usually spends the week between budget meetings, lab updates and hiring decisions, and the gifts that land are the ones that acknowledge the leadership part of the job as well as the science. A hoodie for the long days in cold lab hallways, a tee for the weekend, a mug that's clearly theirs for the coffee that gets cold while they're reviewing data. Put the title on it, science director, and add the department or the lab's name if you know it, so the gift reads as specific rather than generic. It's a role that often comes after years at the bench, so a line about the years of work that got them there can mean a lot. Keep the wording simple, because the person receiving it will know exactly what it means.
