About this systems eng gift
Systems engineers spend a lot of their working lives thinking about how pieces fit together, from requirements and interfaces to the test rig that finally runs at two in the morning. The gifts they keep tend to be the ones that acknowledge that work without being precious about it. A soft tee for the weekend, a hoodie for the cold lab or the long drive to a customer site, or a mug for the desk where the diagrams live. Write out the title exactly as they'd put it on a business card, systems engineer or systems eng, and add a second line for a program, a team or the year they earned a certification if they have one. It's a small change, but it tells the person you know what their job actually is. Most systems engineers are also quietly proud of being the person who holds the whole project together, and a shirt that names that role says so better than a generic engineering tee would.
