About this tilesetter gift
A tilesetter spends the day on his or her knees or bent over a float, setting tile for bathrooms, kitchens and entryways, and the work is measured in careful straight lines and clean grout joints. Their hands, knees and back take a beating, so the gifts they tend to keep are the comfortable ones: a soft tee for the job site, a hoodie for cold mornings before the sun is up, a mug for the truck. What lands best is something that shows you understand the trade. Add the word tilesetter and, if they have one, the name of their crew or company. Some shoppers add a year to mark when the apprentice became a journeyman, or the number of years they've been setting tile. A personal detail like that turns a generic work shirt into something they'll wear proudly on a Monday.
