About this bessemer gift
Bessemer is a city in Jefferson County, Alabama, just south of Birmingham, and the people who grew up there tend to carry it with them wherever they end up. A shirt with the city name is how they claim it at a family reunion, a Birmingham-area event, or a college campus three states away. Because the name is less familiar to most people than Birmingham or Atlanta, a Bessemer design often starts a conversation, and the person wearing it gets to explain where they're from. For someone who moved away, a mug on the kitchen counter is a small daily reminder of home. For someone who still lives there, a hoodie for cool mornings is the everyday version. You can keep it simple with the city name, or add a second line for a year, a school class, or a street or neighborhood they'd recognize right away, so the gift feels like it was made for them.
