About this ookala gift
Ookala is a small place, and that's exactly why a shirt with its name on it means so much to the people from there. Ookala sits on the Hamakua coast of the Big Island of Hawaii, and folks who grew up around it tend to carry that small-town pride everywhere they go. If someone you're shopping for is from Ookala, or has a family connection to it, a tee or mug with the name is a way of saying you know where they're from. Because the town name is short and unusual, it looks clean on a shirt, and many designs have a second line where you can add a year, a family name, or a line about home. Ookala is also a place people leave and come back to, so a mug for the kitchen or a hoodie for the cold morning drive can carry that sense of belonging into everyday life.
