Picking a gift for an academic supervisor
An academic supervisor is the person a student, or a whole lab, leans on when the thesis stalls, the funding gets tight or a chapter needs a third read. They're part mentor, part editor, part referee, and most of that work happens in the margins of other people's drafts. So the best gifts for them are small, useful and a little funny, the kind of thing that sits on a desk or hangs on a chair through a long revision season. A mug with their name or title on it is a safe start, since an office mug sees more daily use than almost anything else they own. A tee or hoodie with the department, the lab or the line they're known for saying makes a good gift from a research group that wants to say thanks together. Type in their name, add a second line like Best Advisor or Thesis Whisperer, and you've got something that sounds like them, not like a card from the campus store.
Academic Supervisor gift questions
What's a good gift for my thesis or PhD supervisor?
Keep it personal and low-key. A mug or tee with their name and a line that fits your working relationship usually goes over better than anything expensive, and it's easy for them to accept.
Can I add their title, like Dr. or Prof.?
Yes. Type the title and name into the text box and the preview updates, so you can check how it looks before you order.
Can our whole research group chip in for matching shirts?
Yes. In the Team Shop you pick one design, paste the list of names and choose a size for each person. Every shirt prints with its own name.
Should I write something funny or sincere on it?
It depends on how you two work together. A dry in-joke from your meetings is safest for a relaxed supervisor, while a plain thank-you and the year suits someone more formal.
What sizes do the academic supervisor shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does an academic supervisor gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
What if the print has a mistake?
If we print something different from the preview you approved, or it arrives damaged, we reprint it free.
