About this academic supervisor gift
An academic supervisor is the person a student, or a whole lab, leans on when the thesis stalls, the funding gets tight or a chapter needs a third read. They're part mentor, part editor, part referee, and most of that work happens in the margins of other people's drafts. So the best gifts for them are small, useful and a little funny, the kind of thing that sits on a desk or hangs on a chair through a long revision season. A mug with their name or title on it is a safe start, since an office mug sees more daily use than almost anything else they own. A tee or hoodie with the department, the lab or the line they're known for saying makes a good gift from a research group that wants to say thanks together. Type in their name, add a second line like Best Advisor or Thesis Whisperer, and you've got something that sounds like them, not like a card from the campus store.
