Picking a gift for a chief mate
A chief mate is the officer who runs the deck when the captain is off watch, so they spend long stretches at sea, planning cargo, standing navigation watches and keeping the crew on schedule. Time away from home is the real cost of the job, which makes everyday gifts land well: a soft tee for a long stretch ashore, a hoodie for cold deck mornings and a mug for the bridge coffee. Put the words chief mate on the design and the gift says they've earned the rank. Add a vessel name or a company in the second line if you know it, or a year, which can mark the date they got their license or stepped up to the rank. Chief mates often leave home for months, so a shirt they can wear to the first dinner back is a practical way to say you missed them.
Chief Mate gift questions
Can I add a vessel name or company to a chief mate shirt?
Yes. Many designs have a second line, so you can type a vessel name, company or year there. The live preview shows how it will look before you order.
Is chief mate a good gift for someone who just got promoted?
It can be. A shirt or mug with the rank marks the step up, and a year in the second line can record the date they got it.
Can I order chief mate shirts for a whole crew?
Yes. Use the Team Shop: choose one design, paste the names and pick a size for each person, and every shirt prints with its own name.
Do chief mate designs come for kids or babies?
Kids tees and a baby onesie have chief mate designs, so a family member can match a sailor's gift at a smaller size.
What sizes do the chief mate shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does a chief mate gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
What if the print has a mistake?
