Gifts from Windy
Windy is the nickname Chicago has carried for well over a century, and anyone who has stood on the lakefront in January knows where it comes from. A Windy shirt is how a Chicagoan says they belong to the city even on days when the wind off Lake Michigan cuts straight through a coat. It works as a gift for someone who grew up there, someone who moved away for work or school, or someone who just loves the skyline and the neighborhoods. The gift lands best when it feels specific: a hoodie for the walk to the L, a mug for the apartment kitchen, or a kids tee so the next generation starts early. You can add a second line with a neighborhood, a street or a year to make it theirs.
Windy gift questions
Why is Chicago called Windy?
The nickname is usually tied to the city's strong winds off Lake Michigan, though it's also been linked to the talkative politicians of the 1800s. Either way, it's been Chicago's nickname for a long time.
Can I add a neighborhood or year to a Windy design?
Yes. Many designs have a second line for a neighborhood, street, year or team name. Type it in and the preview will update so you can check the spacing.
Are there Windy designs for babies and kids?
Yes. There are kids tees, dark kids tees and baby onesies with Windy designs, so a family can match across ages.
What sizes do the windy shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does a Windy gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
What if the print has a mistake?
If we print something different from the preview you approved, or it arrives damaged, we reprint it free.
