About this spiny dogfish gift
A spiny dogfish is a small shark, one of the most common ones along the North Atlantic coast, and it's the kind of animal that takes a little explaining at a party. Shoppers buying for an ocean lover, a fisheries student, or someone who has a spiny dogfish stuck to their bait will find the name itself is the joke. The gifts that land best lean into the specificity: the odd name, the spines on the back, the fact that this is a shark most people have never heard of. Use the second line for a detail that matters to them, like the state they fish in, the year they started diving, or a nickname. A shirt printed with a species name they've probably had to spell out a dozen times reads as a private joke between you and them, which is exactly what a gift like this should be.
All spiny dogfish gifts →- A tee for the marine biology studentPut the species name on a shirt and add their program or graduation year on the second line.
- A mug for the early-morning researcherAn 11 oz mug with the species name works well for the lab or the dock, where coffee is the real fuel.
- A hoodie for cold-water daysSpiny dogfish are a cold-water shark, so a hoodie suits someone who spends time on boats in fall and winter.
