About this director software engineering gift
A director of software engineering usually runs several teams at once, balancing sprint planning, hiring, architecture reviews and the steady stream of questions from people who need a decision today. They're often the one who has to translate between engineers who want more time and executives who want a launch date. Gifts that land for this person tend to be practical and a little bit wry: something for the long video-call days, something for the office kitchen, something that acknowledges the job without pretending it's glamorous. A tee with their title on it works for a team offsite or a casual Friday. A hoodie is for the cold conference room that's always set to the wrong temperature. A mug with their title becomes the one that quietly migrates to the engineering floor. Add a second line with their name, the team, or the year they took the role, and the gift stops being a generic job shirt and becomes theirs.

- A mug for the desk that never gets a breakAn 11 oz mug with their title and team name will be the one that survives every reorg in the office kitchen.
- Matching tees for the teamPick one design in the Team Shop and paste the names of the engineers they lead. Everyone gets a shirt with their own name and size.
- A tee for the team offsitePut their title on a dark tee for a team outing, with the year they took the role on a second line.
