About this canisteo gift
Canisteo is a small village in Steuben County in western New York, and the people who grew up there or moved back for good tend to hold on to it hard. A shirt with the village name is how they claim it at a family reunion, a high school class event, or a summer visit to the lake. It's a place where everybody knows somebody, so a Canisteo shirt starts conversations at the gas station and the post office. For someone who left for college or work and came back, a hoodie for the cold months or a mug for the morning coffee is a quiet way of saying the town still counts. Add a second line for a class year, a street, or a family name and the design becomes theirs. Because the name is short and specific, a Canisteo tee also makes a good gift for relatives who live far away and miss the place.
